Every year on 8th March, the world commemorates International Women’s Day, recognizing the achievements and contributions of women in various sectors of society. While many celebrations highlight women in leadership, business, and public service, this year Inreallife has chosen to focus on a group whose impact is equally profound but often overlooked — mothers in our everyday communities.
Across our neighborhoods are women who work tirelessly under challenging circumstances to support their families. Many are widows. Some have been abandoned. Others carry the burden of family instability, economic hardship, or social neglect. Despite these obstacles, they remain resilient.
These mothers engage in small-scale businesses and informal work — arranging goods by the roadside, selling produce in markets, and working long hours regardless of rain or heat — all to ensure their children receive an education and have opportunities for a better future.
The leaders and professionals we celebrate tomorrow often stand on foundations built by these very women. Their sacrifices, dedication, and perseverance form the backbone of our communities.
Khanga za Faraja Initiative
On 8th March, Inreallife will implement a community outreach initiative in the districts of:
-
Temeke
-
Ilala
-
Dar es Salaam
Through this initiative, we will present selected mothers with Khanga za Faraja (comfort khangas) as a symbol of appreciation, dignity, and encouragement. This gesture is intended to remind them that their efforts are seen, valued, and respected.
The Inreallife team will visit these mothers within their daily working environments to personally acknowledge their contribution to family and community development.
Call for Community Support
We invite community members, development partners, and individuals who are passionate about social impact to join us in supporting this initiative.
Contributions can be made through:

With collective support, we can extend this gesture to reach more mothers and amplify the message of appreciation and empowerment.
